I am sure coleyman1 would remember this, but the first time I remember seeing Brent Mason was on that great program that was on TNN, American Music Shop. You talk about top shelf musicians that show had them. Jerry Douglas, Mark O'Connor, Harry Stinson (who now plays with Marty Stuart), Glenn Worf, and of course, Brent Mason. Oops, Matt Rollins on the keys, too. Can't recall who else was on there, but those were some of the best at their craft. Some amazing talent!!

Look closely. She is lip synching her way through this song. Hence all the long distance views. She is breathless at the beginning of the song when she is doing the introduction, when the song starts its dubbed. This TV special was 1972, there weren't the little wearable mics there are today.

i remember listening to this song for the first time when i was in sporters bar on cambridge st in boston. anyone remember that place and time? for a young gay man, it was a magical and exciting place. I hope so. It's nice what she is trying to do for her godmother, but I wish it didn't take up half the show. She never sings Ring them Bells, Liza with a Z or Londontown anymore.

It's Kay Thompson, vocal arranger for several of the big MGM musicals, and one of Judy Garland's closest friends. I thought it was nice of Ms. Minnelli to create a show for her godmother (who helped her to really learn how to sing), especially since few of Kay's wonderful songs are well known anymore. I am sure if she does another tour (which she mite well still do again!) she'll bring back all the numbers that made her famous.
